  3. Validation of subjective manual palpation using objective physiological recordings of the cranial rhythmic impulse during osteopathic manipulative intervention
    Ce n'est pas souvent qu'une étude ostéopathique sur le MRP/IRC apparaît dans une revue de peer-review, mais ce groupe de recherche allemand a même réussi à publier ses recherches dans des Scientific Reports du Nature Publishing Group, une revue Q1 avec un Index H de 282.

    En raison de l’incohérence des résultats de la palpation, la validité de l'activité MRP/IRC a été remise en question. Les chercheurs ont donc cherché à valider la palpation par un suivi instrumenté et une objectivation algorithmique des fréquences, des amplitudes et des phases. À l'aide d'une intervention crânienne standard (maintien de la voûte crânienne), deux ostéopathes ont palpé et marqué numériquement les fréquences de l'IRC chez 25 adultes en bonne santé. L'activité du système nerveux autonome (SNA) dans les bandes basse fréquence (BF) et intermédiaire (IM) dans les enregistrements photopléthysmographiques (PPG) de la peau du front a été examinée avec la fréquence momentanée de la plus haute amplitude (FMHA) et les spectres d'amplitude des ondelettes (wavelet amplitude spectra (WAS)) chez les chercheurs et les participants. Les analyses des phases chez les sujets et les chercheurs ont suggéré une synchronisation entre FMHA et IRC dans un sous-ensemble de répondeurs BF. Les chercheurs concluent que la physiologie de la bande IM dans le PPG frontal peut fournir un corrélat physiologique significatif de l'activité de l'IRC palpée et ainsi offrir une première voie pour résoudre le problème de fiabilité inter-évaluateurs de l'IRC.

  4. Recommendations for the development, implementation, and reporting of control interventions in efficacy and mechanistic trials of physical, psychological, and self-management therapies: the CoPPS Statement
    David Hohenschurz-Schmidt, lui-même ostéopathe et chercheur dans le domaine de la douleur, a mené un projet international visant à élaborer des directives pour la conception, la mise en œuvre et le compte- rendu d'interventions de contrôle (fictives) dans les essais cliniques portant sur des interventions physiques, psychologiques et d'autogestion. Ce groupe international, qui comprenait un certain nombre d'ostéopathes, a fondé ses lignes directrices sur un examen systématique des méthodes, une étude Delphi en trois phases, des entretiens avec des patients partenaires et des réunions de consensus. Publié dans le BMJ, l'article fournit des recommandations de base pour la conception, la mise en œuvre et le compte rendu des interventions de contrôle afin d'établir une norme de qualité pour la recherche sur les interventions non pharmacologiques. Un cadre d’observations supplémentaires aide les chercheurs à prendre des décisions dans ce contexte. Ils fournissent également une checklist pour rendre compte des interventions de contrôle afin d'améliorer la transparence, la facilité d'utilisation et la précision de la recherche.

  5. The profile of French osteopaths: A cross-sectional survey
    Le très attendu OPERA France est arrivé !

    L'ostéopathie n'est pas une profession de santé en France, mais elle a été réglementée en 2007. La profession est très populaire et le nombre d'ostéopathes est le plus important d'Europe. Comme il existe peu de données publiées sur le profil et les caractéristiques des ostéopathes en France, cette étude visait à dresser un état des lieux de la situation actuelle des ostéopathes en France. Une enquête en ligne, sur base volontaire a été diffusée auprès des ostéopathes français entre mars et juillet 2022. Cette enquête comprenait 52 questions adaptées à partir de la version française originale de l'enquête Osteosurvey Benelux.

    Les résultats de cette enquête constituent une nouvelle base de données informative sur les caractéristiques des ostéopathes français et offrent différentes perspectives sur l'évolution de la profession en termes de statut et de formation.
